THE END OF THE LATE BRONZE AGE

Arzawa in Western Anatolia and Kaška in Northern Anatolia always posed a problem for the Hittites. On the other hand, kingdoms such as Hayasa-Azzi in Eastern Anatolia and Karkemish in South-eastern Anatolia acted as a buffer against the dangers in the south. They secured the core part of the Hittite lands. The devastating consequences of the Migration of the Sea Peoples, and droughts seen in the 12th century BCE, destroyed the Hittite Empire and ended the Late Bronze Age in Anatolia.
