MIDDLE BRONZE AGE (2000 BCE – 1650 BCE)
Ḫattuša, which was initially the capital of a local principality, gradually turned into a central power, and the foundations of the Hittite Empire developed from this kingdom. The kingdom, which became more vital in the core region, within the arc of Kızılırmak, in Central Anatolia, increased its political power towards Northern Syria and Central Mesopotamia, starting from Ḫattušili I.

SETTLEMENT CENTERS IN THE MIDDLE BRONZE AGE
Trade centres were established in Anatolia through Assyrian merchants. The larger ones are called “karum” and the smaller ones are called “wabartum”. Many Central Anatolian settlements such as Kültepe-Kanesh (Kayseri), Alişar (Yozgat), Alacahöyük (Çorum), Eskiyapar (Çorum), Acemhöyük (Aksaray), Karahöyük (Konya), Beycesultan (Denizli) and Şapinuva (Çorum-Ortaköy) came into prominence with their widespread size and developed urban characteristics.
